I think one thing that makes a good first year in college is how well you get along with your roommate. Although I like most of the other people on my floor, my roommate might as well be nonexistent. He's got no social skills. I have to engage him just to get him to talk. And even if he does talk, it's something that usually kills a conversation. He listens to a strange variety of music which is a weird range of heavy metal and techno. Also, he uses the floor to throw his clothes, so it always looks messy even if my part is clean. It's not enough for me to get terribly angry; just peeved. Now, I know that some of you would like someone that keeps to themselves as a roommate, but to be honest, he might as well not even be in the room. It's like part of the room is reserved for someone but they never actually moved in just because he has no social presence. Other than that, I've really enjoyed college life so far. I can't wait until next semester.
Do you get along with your roommate? How so?
I think it's all about finding a "good fit" and your personalities. My roommate and I knew each other in highschool (we were really good friends) and we roomed together our freshman year. We are roommates again this year, and we are going to be living together in an appartment next year too! We get along really well and it's basically like we are sisters (and people ask us all the time if we are twins! haha) But I think it just depends on what you want in a roommate! Sounds like you want someone that you can actually talk to and be friends with! lol! I hope you find a better roommate for the future! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteMy roommate never leaves his computer. He is always playing "WoW" and its so sad. I leave as much as possible just to avoid being in there with him. Other than that a roommate isnt a big deal to me but I get what you are sayin. I am rooming random again next year and I hope I get a guy who wants to actually go out and do stuff rather than play videogames all day.
ReplyDeleteI think it is really important to have a good roommate for college life. when I was a freshman at Bsu, my roomate wasn't someone who I've looking for. She listened music very loudly, and brought her friends very often! it was very stressful to me. I hope that you can find a good roommate who is well getting along with you!
ReplyDeleteI despise my room mate with the fieriest of passions lol She is loud and obnoxious and has to interject herself into every conversation my boyfriend and i have no matter the topic. She leaves food to rot in her bowls for LITERALLY days/a week. she uses both my microwave and fridge and neglects to clean up any of the messes she makes in them lol oh and to top it all off. She never sleeps at night, so neither do i. She is a first semester student this semester and her parents bust their asses to provide tuition money that they dont have for her and she wont go to class. Yep that about sums it up haha. Thanks for the excuse to vent!
